Rocket follow-up

So Roger Clemens apologized for "making mistakes in his personal life." He says this because of all the talk about him and Mindy McCready when she was 15. And the talk of his relationship with John Daly's ex-wife. And a Manhattan bartender. He claims that there were no relations with "a 15 year old girl." But that's about all he denied. Oh that and steroid/HGH use. I bet you anything that his extra-marital relations number in the dozens over a 20 year career. So Wilt had 20,000 but the Rocket only had 4? Sure. Anybody remember his prepared statement to Congress? He went on and on about how he had strong character and great morals because of how his mother and grandmother raised him. So they gave you the morals to say no to drugs but yes to cheating on your wife multiple times? I wonder what his mom really thinks of his character now.

One of my friends suggested that he must be mentally ill. He is not technically mentally ill, he just has the mentality toward lying that a 10 year old has but I think even 10 year olds admit it once this much info is out. This is what happens when you live 40+ years in society with every single person kissing your ass and giving and doing whatever you want. He lived a life with no real responsibilities except getting hitters out. If his character was suspect it didn't matter, everyone would just look the other way on that. His whole outlook on life is completely warped. Just like Bonds. These athletes mentalities are absolutely no different than the Paris Hiltons of the world. Which is why it is a joke to idolize professional athletes. You don't know them at all! You'd be laughed out of the building if you admitted idolizing Paris. Now I can understand kids doing it because they don't know any better but when I see adults kissing the asses of professional athletes I just cringe. I respect their ability to play a sport but that doesn't make them super heroes. Now I don't want to throw them all under the bus because there are a lot of decent guys out there but based on my experiences, I think they are in the minority.

Spring Trip to The District (as the locals call it)

Here are some pictures from my recent trip to DC. It was a memorable trip. It was the first time I've been there with the cherry blossoms out almost in full force. I went to a going away party for a friend that is going to permenantly leave the country and not even for political reasons. Then I paid $60 to play a round of golf along the Potomac in freezing cold temperatures. Then I had to drive home from Gettysburg with my window down because it got stuck. And surprisingly the round of golf was colder than the drive, even with temperatures in the 40s most of the drive. If you look closely at the picture of the bench you will see that it is sitting in several inches of water because the Tidal Basin is flooded several feet beyond its banks. It was a great time of year to drive out there and I would encourage you to do it someday if you have the chance. Plus it is usually a good 10 degrees warmer there in April than in Chicago.
