Redeye
For those of you living in Chicago, you should check out the Redeye today. The feature story is on the environmental impact of bottled water. Looks like it is the big environmental topic now. The story pointed out the 3 biggest environmental impacts of bottled water but it didn't address the energy used just to process and bottle the water and it didn't address the displacement of water from its point of origin. The paper indicated that they will be running more stories on the topic in the weeks to come.
I'm two weeks away from my Grand Canyon hike and I'm not sure if I'm in game shape. I've been riding my bike and running out in the heat the past few weeks but you just can't replicate 10 miles of walking up or down a fairly steep grade. I told someone the other day I'm still more afraid of the flight out there than hiking down the canyon.
Not too much else interesting going on. The markets have been the most volatile since the big tech boom which makes it a little more exciting. I believe all the US equity markets are still up on the year so things aren't too bad. I just saw a story on CNBC about the housing down in Miami and the fire sales going on down there. They showed part of the skyline and there must have been 8 high-rise condos under construction within a one mile radius. Apparently some developers are turning to auctions with no minimum bid. That sounds like rough times to me. Maybe when things get that bad here in the South Loop, I'll start looking to buy.
Take care and enjoy the heat while it lasts because summer will be over before you know it. Ciao.

Grand Canyon won't be that bad. I made the hike in Italy and that was over 25km into the mountains and back down. It wasn't too hard at all, I never even passed out.
Take plenty of bottled water!
Sounds like a "Hurculean" effort much like Bud Selig's.
ditto on the bottled water- we must be the most gullible, short-sighted nation on earth

I want to know what the post that was removed said.
Me too. Probably some sort of insult that the person regretted when they sobered up.
